Eye Love Eyecrafts Magnolia

These days, finding the right eyewear can be a challenge since there are plenty of options to choose from. Available in different colors and sizes, it can take you hours to find the perfect pair and this is not good at all. At Eyecrafts, not only can you find excellent products but the staff can help you out by making the right recommendations on which types of eyewear suit you the best.

As we grow older, so does our eyes and even if there are a limited number of people that maintain their 20/20 vision throughout their lifetime, all the rest have to deal with bad eyesight on a daily basis. This is where the experts at Eyecrafts can help you out. Licensed optometrists examine your eyes to see which corrective lenses are best suited to your needs after which the experienced sales staff assists you in choosing a great pair of specs.

For those who wear prescription eyewear, they know just how important quality frames are. It is always important to have something that you can rely on for the long haul. When it comes to corrective eyewear, the frames should last at least two years.

At Eyecrafts, you can expect the frames to be from top notch suppliers and brands ensuring that they won’t disappoint you. Made from the finest materials, the frames carried by the Eyecrafts store are extremely durable. Also, unlike other places, they see to it that they only offer trusted eyewear brands to their clients which mean that everything from metals corroding to people getting allergic reactions from wearing the frames are avoided.

When it comes to prescription eyewear, the quality of the frames matter and so does the quality of the lenses. These days, cheap lenses have infiltrated the market and these either bubble up when exposed to heat or turn yellowish after a few months’ time. When you purchase your lenses at Eyecrafts, you can expect nothing but the best as they supply top notch lenses from a variety of suppliers like world renowned brands Essilor and Nikon to name a few.

Do not worry though because even if the quality is top notch, this does not mean that everything that the store offers will burn a hole in your wallet. Actually, their items are offered at fair prices, some of which are even lower than what sub-standard optical shops are offering. At this place, you really get value for your money each and every time.

Aside from prescription eyewear, the store also sells quality designer sunglasses. They have everything from shades that guard you against the sun’s rays to those that can assist you as you make a bold fashion statement. You can also find sports eyewear at this place which is truly amazing.

Aside from the different kinds of eyewear that Eyecrafts carries, they also have a line of contact lenses and the solutions that go with them. Ciba brands can be found here including O2, Freshlook, and Air Optix to name a few. You can also find a variety of colored contact lenses here all of which have been approved by the FDA and BFAD.

Eyecrafts: Taking Care of Your Eyes

Probably one of the most popular industries these days is the optical industry. If there is something that people are constantly in need of, it is care for their eyes. At some point in our lives, most of us will be relying on bifocals and contact lenses so that we can continue with our daily routines and such and this is where Eyecrafts can lend a helping hand.

Although there are plenty of establishments that offer various optical goods in the metro, the difference with Eyecrafts is that it has been set up to provide the best services for your eyes. All of the equipment used in this establishment is top of the line and it is the first contact lens fitting center in the Philippines. This means that they primarily focus on contact lenses from brand recommendation to fitting depending on what the client’s eyes can handle.

You might think that all of our eyes are the same but this is not the case. Even if we are all from the Philippines, there are differences in the way our eyes handle the information that they receive. They also react differently towards various stimuli in the environment.

There are some people who constantly rely on bifocals because their eyes cannot handle contact lenses. When it comes to bifocals, there are also different lenses that can be supplied to patients depending on their grade and so on. Also, the fitting of the frame itself needs to be accurate so that no discomfort is felt by the patient when wearing the glasses.

At Eyecrafts, there is a wide selection of eyewear from eyeglasses to sunglasses that clients can choose from. This store has been created to carry nothing but the best brands that the industry has to offer. If you are looking for something classy and trendy but reliable, this is the place to go.

Some of the brands that you can choose from in this establishment include the ever popular Ray-Ban brand as well as other quality luxury brands like Gucci, Pepe Jeans, Prada, Tom Ford, Armani, Porsche Design, Tag Heuer, Silhouette, and D’Squared. For those looking for mid-range products, there are various frames like Soda, FX Creations, Technomarines, Zoo York, Crocs, and Guess. Also, they have an offering of authentic vintage eyewear that will truly make you stand out.

Created by a brother and sister team a couple of years ago, Eyecrafts is known as one of the best retailers when it comes to sunglasses. Before certain collections are released in other stores, you can find them here months earlier. This is because the establishment wants nothing but the best offerings for their clientele.

Back to the contact lenses, being the first contact lens center in the country, Eyecrafts makes it a point to assist clients when choosing the right lenses for their eyes. A team of licensed optometrists evaluate each patient in order to determine the right product for their needs. From hard contact lenses to soft and breathable ones to those that contain an extra dose of oxygen, you will find everything that you need here.

Aside from quality eyewear and excellent contact lenses, you will also be able to shop for great timepieces here. There are different brands from Esprit to Carerra to Police that clients can choose from. Timex watches are also available here with models ranging from those for everyday usage to those which are ideal for sports use (marathon, mountaineering, et cetera).

If you are looking for excellent eye care, give Eyecrafts a visit. With the help of their experienced staff members, you can rest assured that your eyes will get nothing but the best possible care. If you love your eyes, visit Eyecrafts.

Built By Sonic: Graphic Tees Galore

Cebu is a haven for all kinds of different artists and Cebuanos are well-known for their talents in this particular field. Aside from popular musicians, there are a lot of famous illustrators that hail from this city. Right now, rock-infused hip-hop is the trend and this is exactly what a lot of artists are focusing their skills on, and most of these expressions can be seen in the shirts that most of them design.

In Cebu, there are a lot of local brands that are patronized by those from the area and foreigners as well but a lot of those who patronize these pieces of merchandise are the people who hail from the city of Manila. Given that it is not that easy to travel to and from Cebu, a brother and sister tandem decided that it was about time to bring Cebu’s offerings to the metro. Because of this idea, we now have Built by Sonic, the small shop with a big sound!

Let’s start with an introduction to Sonic Boom Philippines. Sonic Boom Philippines was set up by Alex Lim and it is one of the forerunners in the music production industry. One of the biggest bands in the Philippines that emerged from this company is Urbandub whose members all hail from the city of Cebu.

For Sonic Boom Philippines, the goal was simple and that was to promote Filipino music not only in the Philippines but also on an international level. Because of this, Alex Lim and his team constantly search for new talents in the scene and they have come out with several bands that have also achieved success in the music business. Some of these are Fastpitch, Hilera, and Typecast.

After some time, Alex Lim realized that simply promoting music is not enough as the bands also have to share their lifestyle with their avid followers. According to Alex Lim, it is important for bands to receive recognition for their music and the way that they promote their lifestyle. This notion is what led to the establishment of Built by Sonic, a local music and apparel store in Eastwood City in Libis.

Built by Sonic is owned and operated by Alex Lim and his sister Lalay Lim, who is also the bassist of Urbandub. When they first opened, they sold a majority of shirts that have been designed purely by Cebuano artists. Now, they also have international shirt brands that all cater to the rock and hip hop music lifestyle.

The store also sells band merchandise and they have this setup for local bands where they will design an album cover and shirt for them and these will be sold as a package deal in the store. The only rule was that the music had to be good. As of the moment, they have CD-shirt packages from 12 local artists, they had more in the past but all have since been sold out.

Some of the Cebuano-designed apparel that they have includes brands like TeeDee Hear and Wear, Nick Automatic, GOAT, Woozy, Scars, Gnarly, Koboi, and Cinematix. Nick Automatic is the brand that Built by Sonic is known for. Created by a twenty-something-year-old illustrator, shirts sell like hotcakes and people even line up for them during the release of new designs because every shirt launched only goes through one printing stage.

Built by Sonic also sells shirts from international brands. Some of these brands include Glamour Kills NY, Electric Zombie, Macbeth, Modern Rebellion, To Write Love On Her Arms, Hot Topic, Iron Fist, and Crooz Clothing. They are the only store in the metro with these brands and this is what sets them apart from other music-rock-hip hop apparel stores.

Built by Sonic does not only focus on shirts and local music as they also do team-ups with foreign bands every now and then. They sponsored Mayday Parade when they were in concert a few months ago and now, they are teaming up with A Day to Remember. So remember, if you are looking for something hip hop or something a bit rock and roll, Built by Sonic is the place to be.

Booksale: A Place for Bookworms

There are plenty of book lovers in the world and reading is one of the most popular activities that people engage in even today. Even if our world is run by various forms of technology, there is room in the hearts of people for a simply good and traditional book. Whether it may be during the summer or the rainy season, sitting in your favorite chair snuggled up in a blanket with some hot cocoa in hand, nothing beats a good book.

Reading is not the most affordable pastime that you can engage in, though. Books these days are really becoming more expensive by the minute. Paperbacks already cost a lot of money but their hard-bound counterparts cost even more.

This is where Booksale enters the picture, as the store provides an excellent selection of brand-new and pre-owned books for a fraction of the price. Rest assured that you will find the titles that you are looking for and more when you visit one of their many branches in the metro. The great thing about Booksale is that for a bookstore, you get to engage in a treasure hunt every time you go book searching.

Established by an avid reader, Booksale started small, slow, and steady. The initial inventory of the first store consisted of local publications, most of which were back issues, and several paperback novels with titles ranging from the romantic kinds to Stephen King’s works. The store also carried a couple of textbooks but that was about it.

During that time, bigger and more established book sellers already had a huge chunk of the market but this did not dishearten the owners of Booksale. What set them apart was that they were offering great quality books for a price much lower than that charged by their competitors. Aside from brand new books, Booksale also offered second hand ones that were even cheaper but were not dilapidated.

After some time, business started to pick up and most of the first customers that the store attracted were students on a budget. Some were looking for novels and such while others looked for books that they could use for school. Soon after, they had a following of their own and the rest, as they say, is history.

The concept of Booksale was relatively new at that time and they had no direct competition when it comes to second hand book offerings. Their main competition was National Bookstore and after several years, Goodwill Bookstore. The thing about these establishments was that they only sold books that were brand new.

Aside from children’s books and magazines, you can find other foreign and local publications as well as educational resource books at Booksale. Aside from the Philippines, the reading materials that they offer for sale are also sourced from countries like Australia, Canada, the USA, and the UK. Booksale has been in the business for more than thirty years and their bargain prices have continued to improve their business, gaining them loyal clients and also new ones.

Nationwide, there are 91 Booksale branches that are ready and able to serve your reading needs. Here, their inventory is replenished on a regular basis, assuring customers that every time they come for a visit, they will be able to find new titles with ease. At Booksale, because of the very low prices, customers have the ability to buy more books or magazines to foster their interest.

If you are looking for an interesting piece to read, visit Booksale. Here is where you will find a lot of resources that will surely suit your interests. Not only that, you also get to enjoy the ability of buying more books because of the low prices that they charge!

3 Stars and a Sun: Love for Country Never Looked This Good

Francis M was a well-known Filipino music artist who also delved into business and photography during his lifetime. Born Francis Michael Durango Magalona to actor parents Pancho Magalona and Tita Duran in 1968, he lived with nine siblings and was the eighth child in the brood. During the eighties, Francis M became interested in breakdancing and that was when the legend began.

Breakdancing opened opportunities for Magalona in the fields of music and acting. He started getting supporting roles in various Filipino films, usually playing characters like DJs and rappers. He also started working on his music some time later and rap was his genre of choice.

After several years working on the big screen, he took some time off to concentrate on his music full-time. It did not take long before Francis M was able to release his first OPM (Original Pinoy Music)
Rap album entitled “Yo!”. The thing about Francis M was that he was not only a poet but his music focused on everything that pertained to love for country.

You can say that Francis Magalona was the ultimate Filipino. Not only did he      constantly speak about all of the amazing things about the Filipino race and culture but he showed his love for country through his lifestyle. He is one of the      few Filipinos who lived and breathed everything Filipino.

Success in the film industry and success as a musician were not enough for him and this is why he also worked for daytime television shows and several years later, he established his very own clothing line. Operated under the FrancisM Clothing Co., the 3 Stars and a Sun store was born! Obviously, the  theme of all pieces of apparel here reflects everything Filipino.

The line started out with two kinds of shirts, the typical round-neck tee and the button down polo shirt. According to Francis M, he priced the items higher than usual (Php 550 for the round-neck and Php 1200 for the button down) because Filipinos have the ability to afford high priced international brands. He mentioned that they should have the same mindset when it comes to Filipino products and that they should not expect everything local to be dirt cheap.

Francis M made it a point to work on every design personally and this is why he formed a team of artists that he closely worked with. Because of this, every shirt has a piece of Francis M. Even if he is no longer with us, his ideals and love for the Philippines and the Filipinos will be reflected through this works including these shirts.

He patterned the first 3 Stars and a Sun graphic from a tattoo that he got done way back. It consisted of three stars and a sun, arranged just like that in the Philippine flag. He also got the name of the clothing line from this tattoo of his.

He started out slow but in a couple of months, things started to pick up and the line developed tons of followers who wore and collected the shirts that they were creating. Aside from the locals, other patrons include balikbayans and foreigners. After a year, they added caps, jeans, bags, and skateboards to the 3 Stars and a Sun line.

Nowadays, the brand continues to grow and his wife and children are hands-on members of the team. They see to it that their dad’s ideas for the company continue thriving and just like him, they are making sure that they constantly spread the love for Filipinos that their father lived with. Truly a great establishment: 3 Stars and a Sun.

Casual Shopping at its Finest

Let’s face it, times are hard these days but that does not mean that we can no longer engage in some retail therapy every now and then. If you want to find great deals and bargains, all you have to do is head off to Greenhills Shopping Center. Whatever it is that you need, you will find it here at very low prices.

You do not have to spend a lot of money to find great brands that are of good quality. It is just a matter of knowing where to look when you need something. May it be clothes, accessories, food, knick knacks, or whatever it is that tickles your fancy, head down to Greenhills Shopping Center and make great purchases all day long.

Greenhills is a fine spot for shopping but what people love about it is that you can engage in some casual shopping here. Unlike other malls, you do not have to dress up when you come here. Put on a pair of shorts, a shirt, and some comfortable slippers and you are on your way.

When it comes to Greenhills, you need to know that it has four malls within the shopping center and each mall has a different line of products to offer. You can visit Shoppesville for very affordable clothes and accessories, go to V-Mall if you want to get products that are of a higher quality, and then there is Theatre Mall which houses tons of electronic stores, finally, there is Promenade which is more of a dining place within Greenhills Shopping Center as it is home to plenty of different restaurants. If you want to see a movie, there are cinemas in Theatre Mall and Promenade.

A lot of people go to Greenhills for the Tiangge. The Tiangge is a collection of stalls, hundreds of them, all selling different kinds of cheap products from shirts to jeans to formal wear to food. You will also find several stalls which have items that you can use at home like furniture, candles, and pieces of art. When it comes to the Tiangge though, do not be blinded by the low prices of the goods.

When you shop at the Tiangge in Shoppesville, you should see to it that you check the items that you are considering purchasing because most of the stalls do not offer returns. There is also a Tiangge for electronics like cellular phones and the like and this is another area wherein you need to be as alert as possible so that you will not end up with lemons. If you plan on going to the Tiangge, see to it that you look after your belongings since this is an area that is somewhat prone to pickpockets sad to say.

The Tiangge is not for the faint-hearted because when it is a crowded weekend, the number of shoppers can really take its toll on you. If you feel that the Tiangge is not for you, do not worry for there are plenty of stores inside the Greenhills malls and you will surely find what you need there. If you get hungry, a lot of food options are available as well.

When it comes to the food choices at Greenhills Shopping Center, there are plenty of fast food places that you can visit from Jollibee to McDonalds. There are fine dining restaurants as well like Crystal Jade and Gloria Maris. In Promenade, there are various cuisines that you can choose from as well.

You can easily take a break from your shopping and sit down in one of the coffee shops in the area. You can go to Starbucks or to Coffee Bean if you wish but I recommend that you try out Happy Lemon. Happy Lemon is a franchise of a popular milk tea place in China.

So, if you want to do some budget shopping or simply eat some good food, head off to Greenhills Shopping Center and enjoy a day of retail relaxation. Visit the four malls, go to the Tiangge, or watch a movie. I assure you that you will find everything that you need here.

KAnDi Treats

Launched this August, KAnDi Treats is a new company offering stylishly innovative accessories that make fashion convenient and affordable for women with busy lifestyles.

The KAnDi concept was conceptualized by owners and long-time buddies Kathy Amurao-Herrera, Andrea Castro and Dianne Cristobal-Correa. One day, while shopping at a tiangge, they thought that it would be great to shop for just one item and be able to use it in different ways. They started with ribbons as the basic element and soon came up with a simple accessory that they tried to sell to a few friends. And the rest, as they say, is history.

KAnDi designs are so versatile, they can go well with all types of outfits – perfect for women who are on the go and who don’t have moolah to spare for keeping up with fashion. Their Jelly Bean pieces can be used in ten different ways: as a necklace, belt, headband, bag strap, camera strap, bag charm, anklet, armband, hair tie and bracelet. Best-sellers in the Jelly Bean line are Licorice (black ribbon with silver or gold chain, P350) and Margarita (printed fabric with bronze chain, P395).

You can buy KAnDi Treats products through http://kanditreats.blogspot.com and at the upcoming Ayala Alabang Cuenca Bazaar.

The brainchild of college friends Michelle Gabayno and Kristia Soreta, Batobatoclick is an online store selling handmade accessories made of polymer clay. Michelle has always been fascinated with clay because it is flexible and easy to mold. In 2009, she started to dabble on creating polymer clay accessories. Later on, Kristia joined the venture and they started to sell their products to friends. By word of mouth, referrals and advertising in social networking sites, the business slowly gained customers.

Batobatoclick’s style is a mixture of abstract, vintage and modern art. And would you believe that they also get design ideas from the Bible? An example of this is the Genesis collection that showcases the story of Creation.

Among their hot items are Black Mosaic, a necklace with a colorful round pendant on a black base inspired by the stained glass windows of cathedrals (P180), and the Caviar Necklace, a bouquet of differently-designed beads that look like fish eggs, hence the name (P250).

Watch out for Batobatoclick’s new line of polymer clay accessories to be released in time for the Christmas season. You can view their items and place your orders through http://batobatoclick.multiply.com and the “Batobato Click” Facebook account.

Life on the Refrigerator Door By Alice Kuipers

Admit it or not, as human beings, we have a tendency to read notes or letters that are not meant for us. We are curious beings and the need to know what others are up to leads us to take peeks on notes left lying around more often than we would like to admit it. In the book Life on the Refrigerator Door, we get to read 206 conversation notes left on the fridge by a mom and her daughter, Claire. Both are so busy that even though they are living under the same roof, their refrigerator has been their medium on keeping tabs on one another and believe or not, even on tackling their problems.

The story is presented with just the notes left by Claire for her mom and vice versa, and this is also obvious when you see the cover as the copy says it’s *a novel in notes*. I find this a fascinating way in presenting a debut novel, as the story behind each note is left to the readers’ imagination. As you read each note, mental pictures come into your head as to how both the writer, as she composes the note, and the reader, as she reads the note, might be feeling at the moment. Also, the reader is left to fill in the events in between each note. As the reader is a busybody in the story, it would be hard putting down this book, as you would want to immediately see what the succeeding notes have to offer.

If I have to describe this book in one word, it would be “subtle.” The author’s writing style does not dictate the reader’s emotions; instead the reader is left to feel what they want as they read through each note. Bottom line, if you’re looking for a book to bring with you on a short plane ride or road trip, then you should definitely pick up this book.

Summer’s over, still, PRINTS are everywhere. To add color to the gloomy weather perhaps? Gone were the days when you’ll only see prints on dresses and skirts, now, even Hollywood and local celebrities wear prints on their sleeves.

Shirts generally give you a blithe and relaxed vibe, but having prints around it gives you an extra “oomph”. They also help you stand out from the hustle and bustle of Manila life. Take a look at this casual yet voguish looks, as seen on:

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

How do you end a series?

This question might have run inside the heads of authors and novelists who have created intricate novels that have span out to two or more books. As Suzanne Collins ends The Hunger Games trilogy with the release of Mockingjay last August 24, it has ended not just the “wait” of fans, but as well as the journey (and love triangle) of Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne, and the country of Panem; which is supposed to be the future of North America. Mockingjay, just like the Hunger Games and Catching Fire, will not disappoint in keeping readers at the edge of their seats. Each page makes you want to devour more of the story, with Katniss discovering the continuous existence of District 13, and deciding to be the face of the resistance against the Capitol and President Snow, thus becoming the “Mockingjay.”

Each page turned opens new questions that make the book hard to put down: Will this character survive? How will the people react? Will Katniss choose Peeta or Gale? Who will be the final victor of this story? Will there be an end for the annual reaping?

But as with every great story, it comes to an end; Suzanne Collins has allowed Katniss to grow in this book, from being a teenager making rash decisions, to a mature individual that is able to see the bigger picture not only for herself but also for Panem. She has also given more depth to certain characters in this book, we get to see more of Prim, and we get to understand more about Haymitch. More districts are also visited, and the reader also gets to walk in and under the Capitol.

Overall, the Mockingjay did not disappoint, it was a great closure for a series that has heightened our adrenaline as we were dragged to the Arena with the tributes and dividing us between Team Peeta and Team Gale. Mockingjay has delivered a great finish to the Hunger Games.
